Contemporary artists reject the standards of beauty in an artwork and embraced the notion of "artistic pluralism," accepting the difference and uniqueness of every artistic intentions and styles. Whether it was influenced by Performance art, Pop art, Minimalism, Conceptual art and videos, contemporary artists use a variety of mediums, materials, and art styles to create art. Because of the influence of other art movements, there are contemporary artworks that uses cartoons to convey the message.

Since the beginning of Pop Art, where cartoons were mostly used, in the 1960’s, artists have integrated the iconography of comics and cartoons to create a statement or communicate their own political, social, racial, and cultural agendas. Observed from artworks with cartoons included, they are easily customizable as cartoons are the perfect medium to express one’s intentions and message that can be easily to digested and immediately affected.

This is one of the benefits of contemporary art as it allows artists to use any style as a means for self-expression or conveying a message. Anyone can express themselves in different forms that allure others using its different styles and mediums. I am glad that contemporary artists have created innovative ways to make the world more colorful using styles like cartoon while relying a thought-provoking message. For artists who can lead, follow, uplift or provoke with simple iconography like cartoons creates a powerful influence on others and society itself.

I thought that being an artist, you would need skill, talent, aesthetic but that is not all there is. Artists has the knowledge to improve a simple art style into a message worth thinking. The kind of power to influence, amaze and provide food for thought to others in creative and artistic ways. I find it interesting that not every artwork is as simple as it seems which is enjoyable think about. Either way, art can stir up many emotions, thoughts and beliefs that every human being can relate and give an understanding to.

I want to be an artist that helps people realize that there is more to art than what meets the eye. I want to convince people that there are problems that can be addressed in a non-violent way like pop art or contemporary art. I also want to portray my insights as an artist towards problems that relates to controversial topics, even with the simplest art form. I also want to be able to remind others about major and non-major problems that affect us as a person, the community and society through my artworks and lastly, to spread love and joy to everyone since the world is full of depressing things as not everything is sunshine and rainbows.
